Healing begins with knowledge, compassion, and the desire to improve another person’s life.
Mark Kevin G. Domingo once dreamed of becoming a doctor. Financial limitations led him to nursing instead, and ten years later the Quezon City native has found that purpose isn’t defined by a title but by the lives we touch. Today he is a Registered Nurse and Licensed Laser Hair Reduction Technician at Al Andalus Medical Center in Al Ain, and the creator behind the science-based skincare channel @skincareuae.
When life doesn’t follow the plan
One of Mark’s greatest challenges was accepting that life doesn’t always follow our plans. Looking back on the path that took him from his dream of medicine to nursing, he realised that what matters is the difference you make. As a nurse working in aesthetic medicine, he continues to serve with compassion, integrity and a genuine desire to help others.
“Patients may forget a procedure, but they never forget how you made them feel.”
Confidence as much as treatment
In aesthetic medicine, Mark says, many patients come seeking confidence as much as treatment. A listening ear, empathy and reassurance often make the biggest difference, and helping someone feel comfortable in their own skin is one of the most rewarding parts of his work.
A mission beyond the clinic
Mark’s purpose has grown beyond the clinic. At Al Andalus Medical Center, he helps patients improve their confidence through safe, evidence-based laser treatments. Online, as the creator behind @skincareuae on TikTok, he shares science-based skincare education and advocates for responsible aesthetic care. “Whether in the clinic or online,” he says, “my mission is the same: to educate, empower, and improve lives.”
When people look back on his career, he hopes they remember not only his skills but his compassion: a nurse who treated every patient with kindness, respect and professionalism, and who always made them feel safe, heard and valued.
“We care for our patients as if they were family, offering not only treatment but also comfort and hope. I believe our malasakit is what makes us respected wherever we work in the world.”
Differences as opportunities
Working in the UAE exposed Mark to different cultures, languages and patient expectations. Instead of seeing these differences as challenges, he embraced them as opportunities to grow, and they helped him become a more adaptable and culturally sensitive healthcare professional.
Leading with calm
Mark believes effective leadership starts with staying calm. In challenging situations, he prioritises patient safety, communicates openly with his team and focuses on solutions. “Great healthcare is built on teamwork, trust, and mutual respect.”
Healthcare beyond the walls of a clinic
“Being a Filipino Registered Nurse is one of my greatest privileges,” Mark says. Whether inside the clinic or through social media, his goal is simple: to educate, inspire and help people become healthier, more confident and better informed. He hopes to keep making a positive impact, proving that healthcare extends far beyond the walls of a clinic.
“Never forget why you started. The sacrifices you make today are building a better future for yourself and your loved ones. Take care of yourself, continue learning, and trust that every challenge is preparing you for something greater.”
