Free Lesson · Digital Marketing: Know Your Audience and Write a Post That Works

Free sample lesson · Digital Marketing · about 40 minutes

Goal

By the end of this lesson I can describe a target customer, write a social media post with a hook, value and a call to action, and know which simple numbers show if it worked.

1. Warm-up (5 minutes)

Scroll your feed for two minutes. Which post made you stop? Write down why: the picture, the first line, or the offer?

2. Learn: audience first, then the post

A customer profile answers four questions: Who are they? What problem do they have? Where do they spend time online? What makes them trust a seller?

A good post has three parts:

  • Hook – the first line that makes them stop scrolling (a question, a number, a problem).
  • Value – a useful tip, a clear benefit, or proof (photo, review the customer really gave).
  • Call to action (CTA) – one clear next step: “Message us”, “Order by Friday”, “Save this post”.

Simple numbers to watch: reach (how many saw it), engagement (likes, comments, shares, saves), clicks or messages, and sales.

3. Worked example: a home bakery in Pampanga

Customer: working parents, 28–45, in Angeles and San Fernando, busy, want a ready dessert for family events. They use Facebook and Instagram in the evening.

Post:

Party this weekend and no time to bake? 🎂
Our ube cheese pandesal box (12 pcs) is baked fresh on the morning of delivery, delivered free within Angeles City.
Message us “UBE” by Thursday 6 pm to reserve your box.

Hook = the question. Value = fresh, free delivery. CTA = message a keyword by a deadline.

4. Try it yourself

  1. Name the three parts of a good post.
  2. Which is a stronger CTA: “Check us out!” or “Message us ‘SIZE’ for your free fitting”? Why?
  3. Write a hook for a laundry service for students.
  4. A post had 5,000 reach but 0 messages. What might be wrong?
  5. Why should you post when your audience is online?
Show answers
  1. Hook, value, call to action.
  2. The second: it is specific, easy and tells the customer exactly what to do.
  3. Example: “No time to wash clothes before exams? We pick up, wash and fold in 24 hours.”
  4. The offer or CTA is weak or missing, or the post reached the wrong audience.
  5. More of the right people see it early, which helps the platform show it to more people.

5. Real-life practice (10 minutes)

Pick a real small business you know. Write its customer profile in four lines and one post with a hook, value and CTA.

6. Check your understanding

Finish: Before I write a post, I decide … · To know if it worked, I look at …
