Hi Fordy. Tonight, I will tell you a story.
It is about two brothers. A little brother… and a big brother.
One day, the two brothers went to the mall with their mama.
The mall was bright and noisy. There were lights, snacks, people, and many beautiful things everywhere.
Then the little brother saw a toy.
And when he saw it… he stopped.
He looked at it with big eyes. He pointed and said, “Mama… I like that.”
Mama looked at the toy. Then she looked at the little brother.
She smiled softly and said, “It is nice, anak.”
Then the little brother asked, “Can we get it?”
Mama stayed quiet for a moment.
Then she said gently, “Not today, anak.”
The little brother became quiet.
And the big brother heard everything.
He looked at the toy. He looked at his little brother. And he looked at Mama too.
Then Mama said something very important.
She said, “You can still like it.”
The little brother looked up.
Mama smiled and said, “Just because we are not getting it today… does not mean it is bad to want it.”
Then the big brother asked, “So if we cannot get it now… does that mean never?”
The brothers listened quietly.
Then Mama said, “Sometimes we wait.”
“Sometimes we save.”
“Sometimes we come back another day.”
The big brother became very quiet. Because he almost believed that.
Then Mama said, “Your life is not small just because today is small.”
The big brother looked at her. And he remembered those words in his heart.
Then Mama took out her phone and said, “Come here, boys.”
The little brother stood beside the toy. The big brother stood beside him.
And Mama took a picture. Click.
Then she showed them the picture and said: “This is not goodbye. This is just… not yet.”
And somehow… that made the little brother feel better.
And it made the big brother think.
Because “not yet” feels very different from “never.”
Then the brothers walked away with Mama.
The toy stayed in the store.
But something else went home with them.
A lesson. A quiet little hope.
And from that day on, when the brothers saw something beautiful they could not have yet, they did not say:
“That is not for us.”
Instead, they said:
And that helped their hearts stay open.
And that is the end of the story.
