Filipino Institute launches drive to help victims of massive flooding in Philippines
The Filipino Institute has recently launched a drive to help thousands of people in the Philippines who were caught by surprise by raging floods triggered largely by the release of water from Magat Dam as well as heavy rains brought by Typhoon Ulysses.
According to Mr. Gabriel John Rimando, the founder and president of the Filipino Institute, students, trainers, and employees may drop their unused clothes or essentials such as canned goods, instant noodles, sanitary napkins, on their campuses across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and Bahrain.
A box will be placed on each campus where good samaritans can drop off the goods and will be sent to Cagayan, Isabela, and Marikina.
Over a dozen people have already been killed by the massive flash floods in Cagayan.
The flood was triggered by Typhoon Ulysses, the strongest typhoon to hit the Philippines in 2020.
Several towns and municipalities in the Cagayan region north of Metro Manila have been submerged, while some residents didn’t have an option but to sleep on their rooftops.

The Filipino Institute has been actively helping people in need of support by teaming up with their merchant partners. Earlier this year, Rimando launched a drive to help those affected by the Taal volcano eruption. He, along with his team, has also distributed grocery items to displaced overseas Filipino workers in the UAE.
