
Nearly 700 students graduate from Filipino Institute Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi—Nearly 700 students graduate from Filipino Institute Hamdan Branch on September 6, 2019.
The ceremony was held Friday morning at Crowne Plaza, Abu Dhabi which included students who finished their course week composed of six consecutive Fridays.
The President of the Filipino Institute, Mr. Gabriel John Rimando, shared to the graduates his life story and encouraged the students to continue learning in order to achieve more in life.
“’Pag tumataas ang pangarap natin, guamganda ang buhay natin. ‘Pag gumaganda ang buhay natin, lumalaki ang padala natin sa Pilipinas,” he said.
Their guest speaker, Ms. Labueno Casas, a career and life coach encouraged the students to invest in their future by securing a plan and setting out goals.
“You have to find or create that purpose… Your purpose leads you to the most important thing which is your life mission,” said Casas.

Another guest of honor present during the ceremony was Atty. Alejandro Padaen, the Labor Attache for Abu Dhabi. Atty, Padaen emphasized in his speech that the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) is always open and ready to support Kabayans who are in need of assistance.
Among the 700 graduates is Ruby Lacuna from Davao City.
Lacuña, who took up the 24-week caregiving class, said her life as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) was never easy. She started working as a cleaner way back in 2008.
“I do mopping, machine [sic], nagpapolish po kami ng floor [para mapa-kintab], lahat po, naglilimis po ako ng mga salamin sa labas,” said Lacuña.
But through the years, her efforts were recognized by her bosses, allowing her to advance in her career. She now works as a Housekeeping Supervisor of Zayed Higher Organization for people with determination.
For her, learning plays a big role to achieve more in life.

The Filipino Institute Hamdan is looking forward to certifying more Filipinos abroad under Dean William Beronilla’s leadership.
